Our guide and coach Giovanna Richards
Strel Swimming guide and swim coach Giovanna Richards (G), has had a busy few months in the UK, competing in the UK Cold Water Championships and organising the first ever UK Ice Mile Swim. She reached the finals in the UK Championships, swimming in 1.5 degree water at Tooting Bec Lido in London.
In February, G was selected from 112 swim coaches from around the World to attend the Swim Smooth Coaches Education Programme at the Olympic Village at Loughborough University. She will join 10 other swim coaches to be trained in advanced front crawl coaching techniques and stroke correction.
Swim Smooth is the British Triathlon Federation chosen swim programme for their elite GB athletes and G hopes to use her new skills to benefit all her swimmers.
G will also be attending the first UK Royal Lifesaving Society in-water rescue course in April, which teaches open water swim coaches rescue techniques in event of an emergency.
G is looking forward to assisting Borut in guiding a Strel Swimming Adventure in Slovenia in July and to guiding two holidays with Martin Strel in August. She hopes her advanced coaching skills will be of benefit to swimmers on these holidays and will provide technique advice and stroke correction for swimmers.
