Krapanj island in Dalmatian Croatia is the lowest and the smallest inhabited island in the Adriatic. It is located only 400 metres from the mainland town of Brodarica and it is linked by the local ferry all days of the year. Its highest altitude does not exceed 1.25m. Krapanj only has a bit over 100 permanent residents, however, during the peak summer June – September, the island attracts a lot more tourists. The island is known for its long tradition in diving, sponge harvesting and fishing. And now also for open water swimming!
