Serce-Bay-Turkey-Swimming

Our swimming and sailing vacation cruise continues in the warm Mediterranean in October. Our morning started in the cooling shade of the large cliffs surrounding the gulet. A bit windy conditions meant a more challenging start to the swim before the second half where mother nature took our side and we were propelled gulet-wards by a handy current. After breakfast we sailed the short distance to Selimye town where there was a chance for ice cream, Caj (turkish tea) and souvenir shopping. We started to sail back towards Marmaris in the afternoon and stopped for the night at Dirsekbuku bay. Our afternoon swim took us along the north side of the bay and was accompanied by a chorus of baa-ing goats for most of the journey. In the evening some of us were lucky enough to spot jumping dolphins sharing the bay and just a few hundred metres from the gulet. After dinner we did the video analysis and all enjoyed sharing tips and tricks.

An overnight storm left a fresh feel in the air in the morning of our 6th day. We had a slightly earlier breakfast to accommodate a short pre-swim sail to a collection of three islands. A small chop provided an exciting ride through the two crossings and into a calm and quiet bay to finish off a hefty 3km. Of course we stocked up on a tasty breakfast and then sailed for a few hours to Serce bay. The gorgeously calm waters enticed a few snorklers in to befriend the resident turtle before lunch. Our afternoon swim was around the whole of the bay from the gulet. The grill was out again for a tasty kofte dinner and an early night for lots of tired swimmers!

We awoke to a pristine morning and the inviting expanse of the Asian Sea calling us from outside of the bay. We drove around the corner from our bay and were able to enjoy the intriguing caves and rock formations along the coast on our way back to the gulet. The weather was perfect for our last long sail into Turtle Bay. We swam around the inside of the bay using the localised wind to push us along. Our final evening we sailed a little closer to Marmaris and enjoyed dinner under the stars.

One of the guests from Arizona said on the boat: “Living the dream on Turkish swim holiday with Strel team.”
