My mother and I both enjoy swimming and we wanted to go on an active but relaxing holiday together.

The Turkey Swimming- Sailing holiday was just incredible, I cannot believe how much we both enjoyed it. We were a group of 10 together with two swimming guides and 5 boat crew members on-board. Guests were from United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany and Switzerland.

I was a bit anxious beforehand of spending most of the time restricted to the realms of the boat but when it came to the end of the week I didn’t want to leave! The boat was by far the biggest Gullet we saw all week, dwarfing others we parked alongside in harbours and bays. There were six separate sitting/lounging areas throughout the boat, some in the sun, some in the shade and plenty of space for everyone.

Turkey as a place was amazing. I do not venture abroad much but I felt completely safe whilst being in Turkey and the Turkish people could not have been more friendly or helpful. The weather was a constant, sunny 30 degrees all week with lovely swim friendly sea temperatures of around 24 degrees.

The swimming was just beautiful.

We swam on average two, two kilometre swims a day in idyllic, crystal clear Mediterranean waters where I felt completely safe surrounded by support boats and all swimming speeds were catered for. We even swam with three big turtles on one swim!

One of my favorite things about the trip was the high level of comfort. It was nice to be able to do a swim and then go down to your own cabin to get showered and changed at your own leisure. The boat was spotlessly clean, the food was amazing and every meal was different day to day.

By the end of the week I have improved my speed and fitness and it has really set me up well for a charity swimming event I am doing in a few weeks. I also was totally relaxed, tanned and had gotten through some books I’d been meaning to read.

Laura and Borut, our guides during the holiday, were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were knowledgeable about the area and provided a top quality, stress free holiday. I cannot recommend Strel swimming holidays enough and especially the Turkish Swim-sail holiday in particular.
