We were again part of the Cold Water Swimming Championships on the 24.January, 2015 held at Tooting Bec Lido, London.

This was our third consecutive visit (2011, 2013, 2015) at this fantastic event and we look forward to coming back in the future.

Crowds from all over come to this popular British event and enjoy the atmosphere of being out and swimming in the cold! Some find it strange, odd and ask why do it, but there are people doing it!

Colourful hats, specially designed costumes and all kinds of swim suits were out smashing the 3C water at the Lido. Over 600 swimmers took part in the 5th championships. Lovely outdoor saunas provided a fantastic treat for all coming out of the icy challenge. Lots of spectators turned up on the day and altogether enjoyed the lovely sunny day. Event is supported by many local companies and vendors from different swimming branches.

Cold Water Swimming Tooting Bec Lido, London

The pool itself at Tooting Bec is the largest open fresh water lido in England and well-known to many.  It is 100 yards (91.44 m) long and 33 yards (30.18 m) wide and it is open all year round for South London Swimming Club members. As a regular visitor you can go and swim there from 24.May – 31.May during 6am-6pm and from 1.June-31.August during 6am-8pm. You can get to the Lido by foot, bike, tube, train or even with a car. The Lido is situated on Tooting Bec Road on Tooting Bec Common (London SW16 1RU). A small car park with limited space is available, so better to come by other transport if you can, especially when events are held there.

We, Strel Swimming, have donated a lovely week-long holiday prize for our Montenegro OR Turkey swimming trip. We look forward to meeting the winner on our tour soon!

At the end The Tooting Band performed a lovely song with the ladies dancing and Mr.Lido singing. See below.
